One of my favorite things to do when I travel is to visit local fresh markets. Not only are they environments full of beautiful colors and textures but they provide rare glimpses into daily life. While we were in Peru we had an opportunity to visit the markets of both Lima and Cusco. Did you know that Peru is home to over 4,000 varieties of potatoes and 55 varieties of corn?
